Indio - The Season Of The Lost

It is the season of the lost
of desert hopes and dreams of rain and sand
A wonder for witness and for worth
that lies in waiting on this open ground
For the celebration of a distant song
of ten wakes from one wave
With God as my witness I have tried
For a closed eye knows a different solitude
But with that sky above that war
and that same sun sets on me
I let the legends and the tallest tales
fall through disappointed hands
Some will die trying and some will see
the sharpest thorns felt are never seen
When the dream is over and the truth is told
the sweetest word spoke is never known
Some Nostradamus hear these words
And take the ruins from this broken sight
And to the servants and the czars
The pious and the fallen grace
For in this sun there is no shine
So be still my wandering friend
Why stand the virtue of some miracle
to hold the beauty in these hands
Some will die trying and some will see
the sharpest thorns felt are never seen
When the dream is over and the truth is told
the sweetest word spoke is never known

Indio - Life Lies Down

I have a dream where I die
I have a dream where I listen
The birds of the morning have sun strange skin

There is a fish on the shore
The same that came down from the river
This is the world of the rose and thorn

Life lies down
And the world still spins round
I lay on for this time I have found
Home

Out in the bullrush and steel
The tide has gone and forgiven
For each breath and quiver of sand and stone

Still comes the hum of that bird
A beat of a drum in a meadow
That stays to deliver this sight from limb

Life lies down
And the world still spins round
I lay on for this time I have found

I have the blood to ride out this storm
If I can just keep the wind under these wings

Like I did once before
Hands on an ocean
I was the sailor
For one more time

Life lies down
And the world still spins round
I lay on
For this time I have found

Life lies down
And the world still spins round
I lay on
For this time I have found
Home

Indio - Hard Sun

when I walk beside her
i am the better man
when I look to leave her
I always stagger back again
once I built an ivory tower
so I could worship from above
and when I climbed down to be set free
she took me in again

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

when she comes to greet me
she is mercy at my feet
when I see her pin her charm
she just throws it back again
once I sought an early grave
to find a better land
she just smiled and laughed at me
and took her blues back again

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

when I go to cross that river
she is comfort by my side
when I try to understand
she just opens up her eyes

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

once I stood to lose her
when I saw what I had done
bound down and flew away the hours
of her garden and her sun
so I tried to warn her
i'll turn to see her weep
40 days and 40 nights
and it's still coming down on me

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there's a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

[repeat fading out]
